The Guthrie County Attorney describes a local path that starts with law-enforcement investigation. A Fifth Judicial District order designates regular Guthrie County magistrate availability at the courthouse on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays, for 2026. That schedule concerns judicial access, not a promise that every Clerk service or file will be ready at that time. Guthrie County Court Record Codes
Iowa court labels help a reader distinguish case levels. FE commonly denotes a felony, AG an aggravated misdemeanor, SR a serious misdemeanor, and SM a simple misdemeanor. How a Criminal Case Moves

Missing Guthrie County Court Documents
Anonymous web access is not the whole court file. When a docket lists a document that cannot be opened, contact the Clerk or use the courthouse terminal. Ask about copy and certification charges before ordering. Very old files may require archive retrieval, so provide the case number, party name, approximate year, and the exact item requested.

Federal Cases Beyond Guthrie County Court
Guthrie County lies in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa. Federal criminal cases do not appear as state district court files. Use PACER, which requires registration and applies its current fee schedule. PACER charges $0.10 per page, generally caps a document at $3, and waives quarterly charges of $30 or less under the researched schedule. Search-result pages do not share the document cap.

Case Record Access and Restrictions
Iowa Code chapter 22 governs public county records, while judicial access rules control court records and protected filings. Juvenile court records are confidential under section 232.147, subject to lawful or court-authorized access. Sealed and expunged records, protected identifiers, and sensitive victim information do not become public merely because related docket activity once appeared.
