Requests for official Guthrie County criminal records must go to the government office that maintains the source file. The Sheriff and Jail, Clerk of District Court, and County Attorney share the county complex in Guthrie Center, but each office controls different records. The routes below identify the proper custodian and provide its researched public contact details.

This Is Not a Government Office. Guthrie County Criminal History is privately operated. It cannot retrieve an official record, perform a government background check, change a record, or receive an expungement filing.

Need an Official Record?

Choose the Guthrie County or Iowa custodian based on the record that created the question:

  • Court case files: use the Guthrie County criminal court case route or ask the Clerk of District Court for local copies and file access
  • State criminal histories: request the official product from the Iowa Department of Public Safety, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation
  • Arrest, booking, jail, and sheriff reports: reach the Guthrie County Sheriff's Office and Jail at the Law Enforcement Center

The county does not publish a separately named Sheriff's records division, a dedicated records email, or a local request portal. Call first to identify the custodian and confirm how to deliver a written Iowa Code chapter 22 request.

These offices share one county complex, yet one counter cannot necessarily release another office's records. The Sheriff holds sheriff and jail material, the Clerk controls filed court records and copies, and the County Attorney provides information held by the prosecution office.
